Tuesday, February 9th, 2010Leupold- The Xtended Twilight Lens System
Tuesday, July 7th, 2009Ever noticed how the best game will come out in twilight hours? With Leupold Scopes with the Xtended Twilight Lens System you can have confidence in those low light shots. A priority to Leupold has always been light management to ensure that hunters have the brightness, clarity, and resolution needed to make the perfect shot. Leupold has taken light management to the next level with the groundbreaking Xtended Twilight Lens System. Leupold believes that the Xtended Twilight System offers the brightest, sharpest picture in twilight hours in the world. Leupold opened eyes with the extreme clarity, optimal contrast, and brightness of the Index Matched System. This system matches light transmission enhancing each lens’ coating in rifle scopes, based on the index refraction and glass type. The Xtended Twilight System goes further to enhance visibility by using Leupold Rifle Scopes index matched glass with wavelength specific lens coatings. Most scope Manufactures quote percentage of light transmission they usually mean 550nM, the green wavelength. This is where the human eye is most sensitive. the challenge in twilight conditions is that the green light disappears and the blue/violet light takes over. The human eye is handicapped to seeing blue/violet spectrum. If your scope is cutting too much out of it, soon you will not be able to see. The Xtended Twilight System places extra emphasis on matching coatings of glass indices to achieve the transmission of the blue/violet spectrum, without sacrificing the light transmission across the visual spectrum. The Leupold Vx-3 Rifle Scopes are scopes with The Xtended Twilight System. With The Xtended Twilight Lens System you can make those low light shots with confidence.

Swarovski Z6 1-6x-24
Tuesday, April 21st, 2009The the introduction of their new Swarovski Z6 Rifle Scopes this world class sport optics manufacturer has blown the lid off dangerous game rifle scopes and opened the tactical close quarter shooting crowd up to a new world of premium optics. The Z6, which stands for zoom 6, dramatically widens the performance capability of this class of scopes by sporting a much increased magnification range. The predecessor of this Swarovski Rifle Scope was a 1.5-6 model and thus did not have the true 1x capability preferred by many looking for an optical sight alternative to open sights. It utilizes a much improved ocular lens system that dramatically enhanced eye relief and field of view. In fact Swarovski claims that the Z6 1-6×24 rifle scope is the world champion of field of view, some 127.5 feet at 1000 yards. If you into to those bone shaking big bore guns you might find is important to note that in this line of Swarovski Scopes is a set of models called the EE models. This scope features a much extended eye relief which is ideal on the heaviest recoiling rifles.
Now these Swarovski Scopes carry a premium price tag but if your in the market for the best your not likely to find a better scope. You might want to cruise by their website and SwarovskiOptic.com and take a good look at all the scopes they have to offer.
Swarovski Z6i Rifle Scopes
Thursday, April 2nd, 2009As one of the world’s leaders in rifle scopes, it should already be known by sport optics enthusiasts that Swarovski knows how to design a quality optical instrument. The fact that they have advanced their technology to what they have is a feat in itself. The new illumination system on the Z6 models have advanced to allow maximum illumination to perfectly view the reticle, and has been changed from red to orange for better visibility of your target. With various reticles and magnification powers to choose from, there are plenty of different combinations available for a variety of field applications.
Not only does the Swarovski Z6i rifle scope have an incredibly new illumination system, but they also carry the world’s largest zoom range of 6x and the world’s largest field of view. While keeping a large view of view and magnification range, Swarovski has not forgotten about the importance of the exit pupil. Due to the large objective lenses, even at full magnification, the field of view is still no less than 4mm on all models, providing enough light to never leave you straining to look through the scope.
Extra features on a new high-end rifle scope is always great, but sometimes this can cause design problems. Swarovski has worked through the rough edges when it comes to this with the new Z6i, and leaves us with ergonomic and functional operating controls for the advanced reticle illumination system. It has resulted in a low design that provides an unrestricted view when in the firing position. The +/- buttons have also been ergonomically arranged enabling quick and easy individual brightness control to 64 different brightness levels even with the use of gloves. There is even a power-saving automatic shut-off function that can differentiate on it’s own between night and day to prevent your batteries from dieing when you need them most.
If the ultimate illuminated rifle scope is what you’ve been after, once you look through a Swarovski Z6i rifle scope I think you will have found the holy grail. Swarovski has combined their incredible attention for detail in optical clarity with an even wider field of view, a larger magnification ranges, and even more eye relief for more safety. With the number of different reticle and magnification power combinations, there’s a Z6i out there for everyone whether you’re shooting tactically at the range or in need of superb low light performance in the woods. There is even an optional sun shield for the 1.7-10×42 and 2-12×50 models for applications with a little too much light. One look through the new Swarovski Z6i and you will be sold for sure, just so long as your wallet can take the hit.
Nikon Monarch Rifle Scopes
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009As one of Nikon’s most popular rifle scopes, the Monarch series leads the pack of affordable high-end scopes. If an all around great optical rifle scope is what you are looking for, but if you are not looking to spend around $2000, then the Nikon Monarch rifle scope could be exactly what you have been looking for. Nikon has always been know for engineering great optics, and this series is no exception. It’s ultra ClearCoat optical system provides the shooter with an incredibly sharp, bright, and flat sight picture, and also allows light transmission up to its theoretical maximum at 95%.
Every new Nikon Monarch rifle scope is available with Nikon’s patented BDC reticle. This reticle allows hunters to remain dead-on at extreme distances previously thought impossible. The BDC reticle has unique see-through ballistic circles that provide a great advantage for shooting at long range, and still provide a normal clear sight picture for close range shooting where the aiming point is the crosshair itself.
The Monarch’s Eye Box technology gives shooters a 4-time zoom range and four inches of constant eye relief along with large ocular lenses which deliver an extra large, amazingly bright and high-resolution image in all different conditions. This entire series by Nikon is also waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof. With a one-piece main body tube, this scope delivers its punch with minimum weight added to your gun, without sacrificing maximum strength and durability.
When in search of your next rifle scope, don’t count out Nikon and the new Monarch rifle scope series. It may not stand out as much without the fat price tag of a Swarovski, but it still has the specs to contend. If you’re on a slim budget, you cannot go wrong with a Monarch scope. Most Monarch models can be mounted on almost any rifle action regardless of caliber, even on magnum-length actions. In a market flooded by optics companies competing for your purchase, and when trying to stay within a budget, take a look through the Nikon Monarch rifle scope the very next chance you get because you will be very impressed by the optical performance you get for the price tag.
Nightforce Ballistic Software
Thursday, March 26th, 2009Its really rather simple, the people who would like to sell you rifle scopes want you to have maximum success using their products so the folks at Nightforce Optics make their ballistic software programs surprisingly inexpensive. At the time of this writing most of the programs cost about $65, a small fee considering the cost of ammunition like Federal Premium Ammunition. This program has lots of capabilities as it can formulate zero points in seconds. A shooter simply inputs some basic ballistic information, such as bullet weight, muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient of the bullet, scope height in relation to the bore, and original point of zero. There is a place to manipulate environmental like altitude, air temperature and relative humidity. Once the data is in the user simply clicks the Calculate button and the software will report the required rifle scope adjustment required to hit any target between zero and 1,000 yards, in 25 yard increments. If longer distances are needed you can do 2000 yards in 50 yard increments. Want to know how much havoc the wind might play on your shot its no problem you can plug in any wind speed and wind direction and run what ifs until your dizzy. There is even a place in the software where you can use the entered ballistic information to calculate what the point of impact will be for each of the points of the rifle scope reticle.
For instance, lets say you own an Nightforce NXS Rifle Scope and its equipped with a NP-R2 reticle. After you’ve put in your ballistic information you simple find the hot key at the top of the software, it looks like a reticle, and click on it. You confirm the magnification of your rifle scope, lets say full magnification of 22x, and then select the reticle that your scope is equipped with, that would be the NP-R2. You press the calculate button and up comes the point of impact for each of the tick marks on the vertical post. Important Note: Like most other scopes on the market Nightforce Rifle Scopes have cross hairs located in the rear of the scope, know as second image focal plane reticles. Whenever you have a scope with this feature and your shooting a ballistic style reticle, the points of impact for the tick marks is magnification specific. So if your third line down is dead on at 425 at 22x it wont be 425 at 10x.
We highly recommend this Nightforce Ballistic Software it will save you time and money and in no time at all you’ll turn old faithful into a tack driving machine once again. So if you find yourself in the market for a new Nightforce Rifle Scope make sure you also look into this ballistic software product.
